Salah Eyes Two Historic Records Against Galatasaray
Another night, another chance at history — Salah could make his mark in the Champions League record books when Liverpool travel to Istanbul.
Liverpool's trip to Galatasaray tomorrow could hand Mohamed Salah yet another landmark moment in a career already full of them. The Egyptian winger stands level with Jamie Carragher on 80 Champions League appearances for the Reds — one more and he becomes the club's all-time record holder in the competition.
But that's not the only record within reach. Salah also needs just one goal to become the first African player ever to reach 50 Champions League goals, having netted 49 times in the competition so far. At 33, he shows no signs of slowing down.
This season in Europe, Salah has featured in seven Champions League matches, contributing two goals and an assist. Across all competitions, he has nine goals to his name in the current campaign.
The match itself, however, is far from a straightforward proposition for Liverpool. Galatasaray have already shown they are capable of causing problems for the Reds, having beaten them 1-0 in Istanbul during the league phase earlier this season — a result that will give the Turkish side plenty of confidence heading into Tuesday's clash.
